5:00 p.m. Art Show

7:00 p.m. Hall of Honors

Art and culture play significant roles in educating our community, fostering creativity, and providing a sense of purpose in our lives. For more than three decades, the Midvale Arts Council (MAC) has been a steadfast presence, driven by dedicated volunteers who generously donate their time and resources to fulfill the MAC's mission.

The Hall of Honors is made up of native (or adopted) sons and daughters of Midvale who have made significant contributions to Midvale and/or those whose accomplishments and achievements have brought fame and recognition to Midvale as a community. The recipient of the award will be inducted into the Hall of Honors at a Ceremony and Reception during Harvest Days. Current Mayor, City Council, and members of the Arts Council are not eligible for consideration of this award until such a time as they are no longer on these Councils.

The Art Show provides local artists with a platform to showcase and sell their creations, while also competing for awards. The event showcases a diverse range of artistic mediums including watercolor, oil, acrylic, mixed media, 3D art, and photography. Admission to the exhibit is free for all, welcoming the public to immerse themselves in the creative talents on display. Stay tuned for more details.

2024 Hall of Honors Inductee Hal Hale

The 2024 Hall of Inductee is Hal Hale. A former professional basketball player and Vietnam War veteran, Hal is a lifelong Midvale resident, still residing in the house he grew up in. He was the first student body president at Hillcrest High School and was the first professional athlete to come out of Hillcrest High School, playing in the American Basketball Association for one year before being drafted for the Vietnam War. He served for 13 months in Vietnam and earned a Purple Heart and a Bronze Star for valor. He taught and coached at Jordan High School for over 30 years, where he served as the head basketball coach for 29 years, head boys tennis coach for 25 years, and head girls tennis coach for 31 years. During his tenure, Hal was named as Utah boys basketball coach of the year and the National Federation of High School Coaches’ boys tennis coach of the year. Hundreds of students were the beneficiaries of Hal’s dedication to teaching and coaching. And even into his 40s, he could still dunk the basketball when shooting around with his players. Hal is recognized on the Wall of Honor at Jordan High, is featured in “Pictures Past: A Centennial Celebration of Utah State University, and is in the Gallery of Honor at the Utah Sports Hall of Fame. “I have a lot of trophies and medals somewhere in the basement. But it’s the friends and teammates I’ve made in school and sports and church, and the service that have carried me.” Congratulations, Hal Hale, the 2024 Midvale Hall of Honors inductee!
