The Midvale Youth City Council is a civic engagement program designed to connect youth with local government, community service, and civic involvement. Through hands-on experiences, participants gain a deeper understanding of how local government works while developing leadership, communication, and teamwork skills.
Youth Council members have the opportunity to:
Learn how local government, policies, and legislation work
Explore Midvale City departments, including public safety and city services
Participate in meaningful community service projects
Contribute ideas and perspectives on issues impacting youth and the community
Meet with local and state leaders
Be recognized by the Midvale City Council
Build friendships and connections with other engaged students
Through these experiences, students develop an understanding of the importance of community involvement and gain the skills needed to become informed and engaged members of their community.
Meeting Schedule
Youth City Council meetings are typically held every second and fourth Tuesday from 3:30 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.
Please note: Meeting dates and times may be adjusted due to service projects, City Council meetings, holidays, or special events.
Important Dates
Applications Due: May 29, 2026, by11:59 p.m.
Youth Council Social Event: Date TBD
Qualifications
No experience is required.
High School student as of Fall 2026
Midvale resident and/or attend Hillcrest High School or Jordan High School
Homeschool high school students must live in Midvale.
