    Marcus Stevenson
    Mayor @ Midvale City
    (801)567-7205

While elected Midvale City’s youngest Mayor at the age of twenty-seven, Mayor Marcus Stevenson is not unlike the community he was elected to lead. Both Mayor Stevenson and Midvale City are vibrant, forward thinking, and have a tremendous amount of community pride that is rooted in the understanding of Midvale’s deep history and tradition. As Midvale’s 22nd Mayor, Stevenson believes that by working together with residents, collaborates, and City staff, Midvale can continue to set the standard for what it means to be an inclusive and welcoming City.

A native of Utah, Stevenson comes from a family of public servants dedicated to the principals of servant leadership. His grandmother, Elaine Garber, served for 50 years as a Trustee on the Hueneme Elementary School District board and volunteered for nearly every civic cause in Port Hueneme, California. Discussing civic engagement around the dinner table was a staple of his childhood. It became clear to him that government and public discourse were the way for him to make an impact on his community. This led Mayor Stevenson to enter politics and government at a young age - working on campaigns since the age of 18.

Stevenson graduated from Northridge High School in Layton, and then went on to study Political Science and Computer Science at Weber State University where he was awarded the Political Science Department award for Best Political Paper.

With a successful background in community engagement, Stevenson held numerous community organization positions before he assumed the role as Political Director at O2 Utah, a non-profit agency that works to improve air quality through municipal and state legislation.

Mayor Stevenson’s proudest accomplishment is his family – wife, Nikki, and their three boys. The family stays busy with their love of skateboarding, spending time outdoors, and taking care of the family pets – two cats, a bearded dragon, and a gargoyle gecko. Stevenson is an avid music enthusiast who loves to delve into the history of music by reading biographies and autobiographies about musicians.
