In August 2023, Midvale City partnered with Consor to launch the Entryway Points Design Plan Project, focusing on creating entry signs that celebrate Midvale’s rich history and thriving arts and cultural scene. The project aimed to make the city’s entry points more recognizable and welcoming by achieving three key goals:

  1. Develop a distinct design theme unique to Midvale that can be used across multiple locations in the city.
  2. Identify the best locations for signage based on visibility, accessibility, and the impact on utilities and easements.
  3. Prepare cost estimates and timelines for the implementation and construction of the signs and surrounding landscape.

The design process was thorough and collaborative, evolving through multiple phases that included workshops, discussions, and refinements based on valuable feedback from stakeholders. This included input from Midvale City staff, council members, and the public, gathered through social media and an online survey. Regular updates were provided to the city council to ensure concerns were addressed, insights were gathered, and approvals were secured at key stages. This collaborative approach led to the development of final design concepts that were presented to the city council for approval.

We want to extend a heartfelt thank you to everyone who participated in the process. Your involvement was crucial in shaping the final designs for Midvale’s Entry Signs, and your feedback played a significant role in moving this project forward!

About the Project

Objective: The primary goal of this project is to design entry point signage for nine to ten major City boundary locations, helping individuals recognize and appreciate when they've entered Midvale. To achieve this, a consulting team has been engaged to narrow down the sites and conduct comprehensive site analyses. This analysis will facilitate the creation of a prioritization plan, ensuring an effective and strategic implementation.

Public Engagement: Midvale City highly values public opinion. Therefore, a survey is being conducted to gather feedback on the proposed design concept, presented here. This input from the community will be a significant factor in the decision-making process, ensuring that the final design resonates with the residents and aligns with the city’s character.

Your Participation Matters: Your opinion is essential in shaping the future visual identity of Midvale City. We encourage all residents, businesses, and stakeholders to take part in the upcoming survey to voice your preference and contribute to this exciting project. The survey will be open from December 12, 2023 through January 12, 2024.

Consulting Team's Role: The consulting team, Consor, is working on site analyses for each identified location. Their findings and recommendations will aid Midvale City staff in determining the most suitable entry points for the installation of these crucial signages.

Be sure to "Follow this Project" to stay tuned for updates and ways to engage further in this initiative. Together, we will create entry point signage that truly represents the spirit and identity of Midvale City. Thank you for being a part of this transformative project.
