Welcome to the Mayor's NextGen Initiative, an empowering program that aims to harness our city's youth's passion, talent, and potential. Mayor Stevenson firmly believes that young individuals possess a unique ability to drive positive change and shape the future of our community. With this initiative, the mayor is committed to providing a platform for young leaders to have their voices heard, inspire innovation, and foster civic engagement.

Mayor Stevenson recognizes the tremendous importance of civic engagement for high school students. By actively participating in their community, students establish a strong foundation for a brighter future right in their hometown. As part of the NextGen Initiative, participants will have valuable opportunities to engage in meaningful conversations, ask questions, and gain insights into the inner workings of local government. This direct interaction enables participants to better understand the decision-making processes, policies, and initiatives that shape our city.

We wholeheartedly encourage all interested high school students to seize this unique opportunity and apply to become part of our NextGen Initiative. Together, we can cultivate civic engagement, amplify your voices, and contribute to the overall betterment of our community. Application Deadline

September 22, 2023

Qualifications

  • No experience is required.
  • High School student as of Fall 2023
  • Midvale resident and/or attend Hillcrest High School or Jordan High School
  • Homeschool high school students must live in Midvale.

Time Commitment

NextGen members meet on the 2nd Monday of the month, from 4:00 p.m. to 6:00 p.m. at Midvale City Hall from October through April. Members discuss current events, learn about local government, participate in focus groups, and more.
