2024 Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival

We are seeking volunteers (18 years and older) for various positions at the upcoming Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival on Saturday, June 8, 2024. We have a variety of positions available to fit everyone’s interests, personality, and skills. In all positions you will be dealing with the public, so friendliness and safety are the top requirements. Each volunteer will recieve a Festival tee-shirt and sticker! Here are the specific descriptions of each role:

Information Booth (Shifts: 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.)
Help maintain and distribute visitor information provided by Midvale City, direct visitors to event activities (food trucks, restrooms, murals), and hand out festival maps and stickers.

Vendors and Food Truck Check-In (Shifts: 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.)
Provide direction to vendors on unloading and parking their vehicles before booth setup. Offer information about the location of restrooms and other key festival areas. 

Vendors and Food Truck Directing Load Out (Shift: 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
Check-in with the vendors to make sure they have everything they need to pack up, direct and support the vendor booths and food trucks out of the Festival safely.

Festival Setup and General Support (Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.)
Support festival staff with general tasks such as moving equipment, loading and unloading supplies, and placing signage. Answer festival-goer questions. 

Festival Takedown and General Support (Shift: 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.)
Support festival staff with general tasks such as moving equipment, loading and unloading supplies, and removing signage. Answer festival-goer questions.

Thank you for your interest in participating in the Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival. Your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated, and we are excited to review your application.

The Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival invites Utah artists, makers, and vintage vendors who can contribute to the festival's good vibes and creativity. Our goal is to celebrate the local Midvale community and showcase its unique character, while providing a platform for creators to showcase their talents. 

The festival will be held on Midvale's Main Street on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and we are looking forward to showcasing a diversity of talented vendors.

The Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival Committee retains the right to select vendors and booth locations at our sole discretion. Due to space limitations, we will be prioritizing diversity among vendors and limiting vendors who sell similar goods. Applications will be evaluated based on the products and services offered, space availability, receipt of the application, and the applicant's fit with the festival. All applications are subject to approval. Without an approved application, vendors will not be permitted to occupy a space or sell any items at the festival.

The application deadline is May 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., and the Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival Committee will review all applications during the week of May 13, 2024. You can expect a response by May 15, 2024.

The Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City is seeking qualified artists, or artist teams, to participate in the 2^nd annual Midvale City Mural Festival. To apply, artists must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) by Friday, March 24, 2023, 5:00 p.m. Selected artists will be asked to design and install a mural that is aesthetically pleasing, imaginative, iconic, and a welcoming feature for Midvale residents, business owners, and the Midvale Main Street area. 

This call is open to experienced muralists who are 18 years of age or older. The festival includes opportunities for experienced muralists and up-and-coming artists, but you MUST have painted a mural prior to applying. All artists regardless of race, creed, gender, gender variance, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, political opinion, or affiliation, or mental or physical disability are welcomed to apply.

The Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City is working to revitalize Midvale’s Historic Main Street by highlighting the areas unique culture, identity, history, and community spirit once again by transforming Midvale Main into an art, culture, and food district. 

The Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City is committed to partnering with local arts and community organizations and artists to host the annual Midvale Main Mural Festival, the Creators Conference, Food Truck Fridays, and the up-and-coming Art House, a public art studio located in the old Midvale City museum building on Main Street.

In addition to the specific roles, all volunteers will also be asked to hand out flyers to guests.
