Midvale Art House Open House

Get a first look at Midvale Main’s newest community art studio called the Art House. Open house hours will take place during the Festival. Join us in welcoming these talented studio artists and exploring this new creative space within the Midvale Main Arts & Culture District. The Art House will be open to the public and host creative activities for everyone to enjoy throughout the year.

While you’re there, don't miss the chance to admire a new indoor mural by acclaimed LetterWest artist Ximena Jimenez from Bogota, Colombia, adding a unique international flair to our mural collection. Join us at the Art House to celebrate with the local art community, celebrate creativity, and experience the magic of Midvale's budding arts and culture scene.

Together we’ll explore the vibrant and historic streets of the Midvale Main Arts & Culture District which has over 30 magnificent murals. This is an opportunity to meet some of this year’s muralists, witness live mural making and uncover the stories and creativity behind how murals are made. We’ll finish our memorable walk with some delicious ice cream from Altojitos, a local Midvale Main Street business. RSVP now to reserve your spot!

We're committed to curating a diverse and eclectic mix of vendors that truly represents the spirit of Midvale. While we have limited space available, we're dedicated to prioritizing diversity among vendors and ensuring a variety of goods for festival-goers to explore.

To apply, submit your application by May 8, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. Our festival committee will carefully review all applications and you can expect to hear back from us by May 15, 2024.

There is no fee to participate as a vendor. However, if accepted to participate as a vendor, a $50 vendor deposit will be required. This deposit will be refunded the week after the mural festival unless you do not show up, in which case the deposit is non-refundable.

Join us as a volunteer for the upcoming Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival! We're on the lookout for enthusiastic individuals (aged 18 and older) to fill various roles and help make this event a resounding success.

No matter your interests, personality, or skills, we have a position that's perfect for you. All roles involve interacting with the public, so friendliness and safety are our top priorities. Plus, as a token of our appreciation, each volunteer will receive a Festival tee-shirt and sticker!

Here's a rundown of the available roles:

  1. Information Booth (Shifts: 3:30 p.m. to 6:30 p.m. and 6:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m.): Assist visitors by providing information about the festival, directing them to various activities, and distributing festival maps and stickers.
  2. Vendors and Food Truck Check-In (Shifts: 2:30 p.m. to 5:30 p.m.): Guide vendors and food truck operators on unloading and parking, and provide information about key festival areas.
  3. Vendors and Food Truck Directing Load Out (Shift: 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.): Ensure vendors have what they need for packing up, and assist with safely directing them out of the festival area.
  4. Festival Setup and General Support (Shift: 2:00 p.m. to 5:00 p.m.): Assist with setting up equipment, loading/unloading supplies, and answering attendee questions.
  5. Festival Takedown and General Support (Shift: 7:00 p.m. to 10:00 p.m.): Help dismantle equipment, remove signage, and provide general support as needed.

In addition to your specific role, all volunteers will be asked to hand out flyers to guests. It's a fantastic opportunity to meet new people, support the community, and have a blast!

On March 12, 2024, the Redevelopment Agency (RDA) of Midvale City released a Call for Artists, inviting creative minds to participate in the upcoming 2024 Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival. The deadline for submitting Statements of Qualifications was April 12, 2024, at 5:00 p.m. The selection committee is currently in the process of scoring applications. The Midvale City RDA is working to revitalize Midvale’s Historic Main Street by highlighting the area’s unique culture, Emma Gilbert, 2023identity, history, and community spirit once again by transforming Midvale Main into an arts, culture, and food district.     Thank you for your interest in participating in the Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival. Your enthusiasm is greatly appreciated, and we are excited to review your application.

    The Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival invites Utah artists, makers, and vintage vendors who can contribute to the festival's good vibes and creativity. Our goal is to celebrate the local Midvale community and showcase its unique character, while providing a platform for creators to showcase their talents. 

    The festival will be held on Midvale's Main Street on Saturday, June 8, 2024, from 4:00 p.m. to 9:00 p.m., and we are looking forward to showcasing a diversity of talented vendors.

    The Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival Committee retains the right to select vendors and booth locations at our sole discretion. Due to space limitations, we will be prioritizing diversity among vendors and limiting vendors who sell similar goods. Applications will be evaluated based on the products and services offered, space availability, receipt of the application, and the applicant's fit with the festival. All applications are subject to approval. Without an approved application, vendors will not be permitted to occupy a space or sell any items at the festival.

    The application deadline is May 9, 2024, at 5:00 p.m., and the Los Muros on Main: Midvale City Mural Festival Committee will review all applications during the week of May 13, 2024. You can expect a response by May 15, 2024.

    The Redevelopment Agency of Midvale City is seeking qualified artists, or artist teams, to participate in the 2nd annual Midvale City Mural Festival. To apply, artists must submit a Statement of Qualifications (SOQ) by Friday, March 24, 2023, 5:00 p.m. Selected artists will be asked to design and install a mural that is aesthetically pleasing, imaginative, iconic, and a welcoming feature for Midvale residents, business owners, and the Midvale Main Street area. 

    This call is open to experienced muralists who are 18 years of age or older. The festival includes opportunities for experienced muralists and up-and-coming artists, but you MUST have painted a mural prior to applying. All artists regardless of race, creed, gender, gender variance, sexual orientation, national origin, religion, marital status, political opinion, or affiliation, or mental or physical disability are welcomed to apply.
